Jeremy DellerThe History of The World

SOLD

Signed and numbered from the edition of 100 on the reverse.

The print relates to a performance Deller produced in 1996 called Acid Brass, in which acid house anthems were played by a coal pit brass band.

Seeking to make unlikely connections between contemporary dance music and the world of miners and their brass bands, he mapped out these poignant yet comical links in a wall drawing made in 1996. This drawing of black marker pen on white-washed wall remains in the Tate Collection, London, and forms the basis for the current screenprint comprised of white ink on black paper.
