Walter SickertStudy for Chagford Churchyard

SOLD

Sickert spent the summer of 1916 in Chagford, Devon. The churchyard there became one of his favourite subjects and several sketches, studies and oils were produced of the churchyard with its gravestones silhouetted against the Devonshire countryside. The culmination of these is the oil that is held at the Fitzwilliam Museum in Cambridge.
